Airyka Rockefeller is an artist and photographer based in San Francisco.  Part reportage, part fine-art, her visual work is known for its evocative, editorial style. Her series for Fauvist, Objects Of Virtu, commingles collage, sculpture and photography.  The series is inspired by everyday objects, design, architecture and material culture, particularly that of the Art Deco and Bauhaus eras.  Airyka is a lifelong lover of wilderness and of all animals, from the hummingbird to the honeybee, the jellyfish to the wolf-hound.  Her choice of animal to support within the Fauvist project is the tallest living terrestrial animal, the giraffe. Living in India years ago, she once saw a herd of giraffe gallop and recalls it still as the most graceful, otherworldly thing she's ever seen.

A note about piece measurements: these photographs are printed on photo paper that measures exactly 20x24 inches, a standard framing size, however, the actual dimensions of the image on the 20x24 inch paper are 15 1/8 inch by 21 1/8 inch.
